Time duration-(11-14 minutes)
The speaking module, tests the ability of a student to speak fluently in English.
The test is of 9 Band and the scores are given on four important criterion:-
- Fluency and Coherence
- Lexical resource
- Fluency and Coherence: A student tends to get a higher band score if he is able to speak at length, fluently, without any repetition. Also, the use of connectors and discourse markers will give one a good band score.
- Lexical resource: A higher band score would require a wide vocabulary resource, and use of collocation and idiomatic language naturally and accurately.
- Grammar: A student is required to use wide range of complex sentence structures and grammar accurately and is able to produce error free sentence.
- Pronunciation: Is able to use full range of pronunciation feature with precision and is effortless while speaking. Language is clear and easy to understand.
The speaking Test is divided into 3 parts
Part 1: To answer general questions on a range of familiar topics like your family, studies, hobbies, friends, job and your home town etc.
Part 2: To speak on a given topic or cue card. It includes points that you can cover in your talk. A candidate is required to speak for at least two minutes.
Time duration—2 minutes
Preparation time—1 minute
Part 3: To discuss questions based on the topic of part 2. Further to discuss more abstract ideas and cross questions.
Time duration—4 – 5 minute
Questions asked—8- 10 minute
